Nikita SDG's Values Education
Formerly known as NIKITA VALUES EDUCATION, this flagship initiative is a dynamic capacity-building program designed to integrate the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the educational framework of Madagascar’s schools. Our approach not only focuses on knowledge transfer but on fostering tangible action through the establishment of NIKITA HEROES clubs. These student-led groups act as hubs of SDG awareness and action, driving key messages about sustainability, equality, and social responsibility within the community.
At the heart of our mission is the belief that quality education should not be a privilege reserved for the elite. It is a fundamental right that must be accessible to all, especially the youth of Madagascar who are currently constrained by systemic inequities. Our education program targets young people aged 13-24, providing training in vital life skills such as communication, leadership, gender equity, and sustainable lifestyles. We focus on empowering youth in underserved regions like Manakara, Mahajanga, Antsiranana, and Tamatave to understand the importance of their education, develop a love for learning, and advocate for positive social change.
In collaboration with local communities, parents, and the national public education system, our program covers essential SDGs:
- SDG 2: The development of sustainable school cafeterias to address malnutrition and promote healthy eating habits.
- SDG 4: Remedial education for children with learning disabilities and other specific needs, including accessible resources for children with disabilities.
- SDG 5: Gender equity education that explores gender roles, stereotypes, positive masculinity, and equal opportunity for all.
- SDG 6: Education on menstrual health and hygiene management.
- SDG 13: Promotion of environmental sustainability through school gardens and community reforestation efforts.
By fostering a generation of socially conscious and empowered young leaders, we aim to create a ripple effect of change across Madagascar, ensuring that the country’s youth are equipped to shape a sustainable future.
